Great software program from the USA!
Scanners are a part of our lives. They offer a way to digitize old
photos, documents, school transcripts, certificates, user’s guides and a
multitude of other documents for long term, safe storage and easy
viewing. Getting these documents and photos into your computer is
another story.
Many scanner manufacturers produce excellent hardware, such as our Canon
scanner, delivering improved performance at better prices almost daily.
However it seems that the software they bundle with these devices are
incredibly confusing, unintuitive, are complicated to understand and
leave users scratching their heads. OEM (original equipment
manufacturers) bundle software packages that leave most people baffled
as to how to use it properly and because of this, these scanners usually
sit on a shelf or in a cupboard collecting dust until they are finally
passed on or thrown away.
The Mad Dogs use VueScan, Hamrick Software's flagship product. Designed
from the ground-up by founder and programmer Ed Hamrick, VueScan
delivers features and abilities not found on any OEM scanner software.

 Used in conjunction with our Canon scanner, we have scanned most of our
user manuals, operators guides and other documents. Scanning directly to
tiff, jpg or pdf format (depending on the source) saves us an amazing
amount of space and weight. In addition to the space savings, we have
also protected the information from deterioration due to wear & tear,
mold, moisture or other factors that endanger this paperwork. In
addition to the onboard versions, we can also keep a backup copy of all
of our documents on shore - just in case...
VueScan is very customizable and lets operate in Basic or
Advanced mode. Basic mode is almost as easy as it gets while
delivering excellent results. For more demanding, color specific
or advanced applications, the Advanced mode hands you control
over virtually every aspect of the program. For very advanced
applications, you can even create scanner profiles and calibrate
IT8 targets.

Scanning your multi-page manuals (the ones you only need once in
a blue moon and take-up your precious shelf space) is a breeze
with VueScan software's automatic mode. Just set the software on
"Automatic Interval", set the timer interval and VueScan
automatically scans and saves the files in jpeg, tiff, or pdf
format, leaving your hands free to turn the pages of the book
you are scanning. How COOL is that?!?
 To
date, the Mad Dogs estimate that we have saved over 212 lbs (96
kg) by converting paper books, manuals, etc to digital format.
