Bald Eagle eyes on patrol in Glacier Bay National Park
About this image: Bald Eagle eyes on patrol in Glacier Bay National Park
This pair of Bald Headed Eagles was perched atop this ice berg. We're not sure but perhaps like us, they too were on patrol, but looking out for boats not icebergs. iceberg patrol. You'd hate to fall asleep and wake up to hear your iceberg crashing into an unsuspecting boat....
Bald Eagles
About this image: Telling secrets
"..if we could talk to the animals..." we'd ask what kind of secrets they're telling. While things seem quiet and restful, it looks as if these two Bald Headed Eagles were up to something and making secret plans.
Bald Eagle looking for victims
About this image: Looking for victims
Sitting like a couple of spectators watching a tennis match, they seemed to be in sync as they looked around checking things out. Maybe they were looking for a snack, maybe looking for lunch or... could it be that they were here on holidays and taking in the sights and sounds just like the crew of Mad Dog Voyager?
Close up of another Bald Eagle
About this image: Another Bald Eagle
This close-up shot shows the gracefulness and apparent noble blood in the Bald Eagle. As he sat on the berg with a watchful eye trained on us we drifted by leaving him to the solitude that one finds so easily while in Glacier Bay Park, Alaska.
Tarr Inlet in Glacier Bay National Park
About this image: Tarr Inlet in Glacier Bay National Park
This photo looks back as we remember the day in Tarr Inlet and shows the Grand Pacific Glacier (Starts in Canada) looking like a highway leading down to the water (on the right side of the photo). Grand Pacific Glacier is one of the largest in Glacier Bay National Park and stretches out for almost 34 miles / 54 km before ending up at the waters edge. Grand Pacific Glacier flows at about 1 - 4 feet / 0.3 - 1.2 m per day.

After spending an entire day watching glaciers calve, seals playing in the water, and taking in some of the most spectacular sights, Alaska once again graced us with a fantastic sunset. The rich reds of the sunset bounced off clouds, glaciers and the water's surface illuminating everything we saw and bathing it for but a few moments in the red of the sunset.
Another waterfall feeding the biosphere

About this image: Another waterfall feeding the biosphere
Another waterfall was passed by, as it peered out through the dryas, willows and alders. The waterfalls in Glacier Bay are all glacier fed and carry down incredible amounts of nutrients feeding this rich and lush biosphere and ecosystem.
