Coffee with The Mad Dogs on Mad Dog VoyagerProduct: Cuisinox Liberta Espresso Coffeemaker

About the Cuisinox Stainless Steel Liberta Expresso Maker

Anyone who knows the Mad Dogs, knows we love our coffee! I am more of a coffee nut, ready and willing to have coffee at anytime of the day and for any small reason.

It was before we began our lives on Mad Dog Voyager that I had this addiction to coffee. Shakespeare said, "A Rose by any other name is still a Rose", but obviously, he had not been exposed to the joys of good coffee! Coffee is not always coffee!

Good coffee on Mad Dog Voyager has a few important ingredients:
1. A Mad Dog hooked on coffee
2. Our Cuisinox stainless Steel Liberta Espresso Maker (also known as a "Moka" pot)
3. Good quality coffee beans
4. A coffee grinder (or suitably sized hammer as a substitute)

Many restaurants and fast food/donut shops sell something they call coffee. It looks like coffee (it is a dark, non transparent liquid), smells like coffee (some of it is really old & burnet smelling coffee, but you can still recognize the coffee) and they all use water to make the coffee (however some places would be better off serving the plain water, leaving the coffee in the bag and saving us a lot of heartache!)

Coffee on Mad Dog Voyager starts off as fresh, cold, filtered water, whole ungrounded beans, and our Cuisinox Stainless Steel Liberta Espresso Pot. Ahhh, the Liberta Espresso pot. This style of Espresso maker (also known as a "Moka" pot) originated in Italy, - a place where people know and understand coffee.

The bottom portion of this "coffee miracle" is filled with fresh, cold water. The coffee basket is filled with a precise amount of coffee (freshly ground from beans for exactly 18 seconds) and is topped with the upper chamber. The water in the lower pot is heated and as it boils, it is forced up through the filter and the coffee. This life-saving elixir is coaxed out of the fresh ground coffee and in 8 minutes, we have witnessed another miracle.

The Cuisinox Liberta stove top espresso maker is solidly built from 18/10 stainless steel and along with navigational charts and a GPS, form the basis of the important "tools for survival" aboard Mad Dog Voyager.

But don't get me wrong, I am in no way vain about nor addicted to coffee... well actually I am. Which brings an end to this review, as it's time to grab our Moka pot and make a fresh espresso........
