With an abundance of renewable energy power, thanks to our D400 windmill
supplemented by our 90W Solar Panels, the Mad Dogs could work around the
clock (not that we DO work around the clock, but we COULD, if we wanted
to do such a thing
)
The D400, available from Mad Dog Outfitters, delivers a punch of power
in a very robust, well designed and engineered unit. In a head-to-head
comparison, the D400 was rated #1 against all major competitors.
With a design encompassing a maintenance free concept, the D400 is a
direct-drive wind generator, built, and very suitable, for both marine
and land-based applications. Exceptionally quiet and vibration free, the
Mad Dogs can leave the windmill running night and day without ever being
disturbed by noisy blades or vibrations transmitted to the hull. The
D400 wind generator uses a very powerful and efficient 3-phase
permanent-magnet alternator, coupled to computer designed aerofoils
(blades) optimized for low-speed to deliver power in even the lightest
of breezes.
While extremely efficient in low winds, the D400 windmill is equally
suited to maintain and sustain up to 500 watts of power output in winds
in excess of 30 40 knots. The cast aluminum body is designed with
large integrated cooling fins while the internal heavy duty encapsulated
windings can easily withstand running in a 50 knot wind all day long.
The D400 is a robust unit and being designed with a 1.1 meter (43)
rotor consisting of 5 extremely durable, computer designed aerofoil
blades the D400 is the quietest windmill the Mad Dogs have ever seen or
encountered.
The Mad Dogs enjoy peace and solitude and never feel suffocated by a
noisy windmill. Nothing can clear a quiet anchorage as fast as a boat
arriving with a windmill sporting 3 black blades howling and fluttering
in the wind.
