Welcome to the crew pages of Mad Dog Voyager.
This is the Crew page for the scurvy dogs that call Mad Dog Voyager
home. Although we know who we are, and the people we know who know us
also know that we know who we are but it's the people that don't know
us, haven't met us or maybe have never met the people we know who know
that we know who we..... Oh, this is getting too complicated - just read
on and find out about us.
Mad
Dog Voyager & Crew
Mad Dog Voyager is a 40' CR Yachts
400DS pilothouse sailing yacht. Although we live aboard Mad Dog
Voyager full time, 365 days a year on the water, the boat has a Port of
Registration in Alberta, Canada. Being landlocked with the Canadian
Rocky Mountains situated between Alberta and the Pacific Coast, you will
understand why we don't sail to our Port of Registry very often...
Mad Dog Voyager is crewed by two "Mad Dogs" &
Fang the Bengal cat. Life on board is generally
relaxed and laid back. After spending many years working long, hard
hours, we are now enjoying some of the benefits of our labors. Onboard
there are no hard and fast rules concerning position or job duty.
Anybody can be Captain for the day, just rush out first thing in the
morning, straight out of bed, grabs onto the helm (steering wheel) and
don't let go for fear of being ousted from the position. Other than
that, nobody has set jobs or tasks. Whoever is handy and available when
a job needs doing or if one person is more skilled or able to handle a
job then that person does it. Whether there's a cleaning, scrubbing or
other undesirable job to be done, it’s just done and gotten over with
rather than put off until another time. Simple! Why make life more
complicated with rules and duty rosters than it needs to be?
Introducing each member of the crew:

Crew
member #1: Dean
(click photo for more info)
In general Dean is responsible for the well-being of the
crew and the many visitors on Mad Dog Voyager.
Cooking and feeding the crew
and the many guests on-board Mad Dog Voyager is a real
change from being on land. There are supply limits that you
learn to work around. This has gone extremely well, and
often there are positive comments about some fresh baked
bread, a special raisin & nut loaf, a deluxe dinner or a
dessert that's been prepared on Mad Dog Voyager. Additionally, Dean
takes on most of the challenges posed by the
extensive on-board systems and electronics on board.
Dean is always willing to lend a hand or offer advice
(whether requested or not!) and carries on with a pretty
happy and chipper attitude. Dean also does most of the
fishing onboard and is pretty good at it!

Crew member
#2: Leo aka
"Hawk" (click photo for
more info)
Leo usually Captains most of the journeys that we embark
upon. While Dean tries to convince Leo to make more use of
the instruments and electronics on board, Leo has an
intuitive "feeling" when driving the boat and usually relies
on what he "feels" that the boat wants to do. Whether under
sail or motor Leo "becomes one" with Mad Dog Voyager. Also,
with his creative talent and desire to use this creative
talent Leo does most of the
photography and has put together this entire website.
Leo always carries an incredibly positive and optimistic
outlook on life. Although you hear the statements "no one
has done that" and "nobody does it that way" Leo is always
ready to buck the trend and do it his way - most times with
success and positive results. (Hint: read the quotes on the
bottom of our pages!)
Hobbies: Graphics, Photography,
Diving,
Sailing,
Music
& Exploring Nature

Bengal Cat
Fang is one of the full time crew members on board
our sailboat
Mad Dog
Voyager. Fang is a Bengal cat who, on the high seas, can be found either
sleeping or hanging his head overboard watching the waves go by. He loves
living onboard and "howls" when he has to leave the boat. True sailing
blood runs in his veins. Read more about
